HRA Spotlight – Communicating Science Through Comics
Scientists recognize the challenge of communicating complex scientific concepts effectively to diverse audiences. Traditional methods often fall short in engaging and reaching broader groups. Comics, with their visual storytelling approach, have emerged as a powerful medium for science communication.
To adapt scientific content into comic format, our Trainer Dr. Jan Friesen offered a 2 hour mini-workshop for the Hamburg Research Academy. This workshop introduced a structured framework for creating science comics. Participants learned to establish a solid conceptual foundation, construct scientifically relevant environments and characters, and develop a comprehensive storyboard. The workshop also explored the collaborative process of working with illustrators.
